Latex vs Nitrile - What is the difference?

Nitrile is a compounded rubber that has significant advantages over common latex rubber when used for gloves. Most importantly nitrile is non-allergenic, whereas latex is commonly allergenic, often causing irritation and rashes on the skin.

Nitrile does not have the “memory” of latex. That is, after wearing for about 30 minutes the material adopts the shape of your hand. Latex gloves on the other hand continue to want to return to their original shape. This is why Nitrile Milking Gloves are much more comfortable to wear.

Also, nitrile is about three times more resistant to punctures, and much more resistant to a wider range of chemicals than latex rubber. This additional strength makes Nitrile Milking Gloves last longer when being removed and put on repeatedly, or washed and reused.

For all these reasons, it is generally well worth paying the extra price for Nitrile Milking Gloves if you are wearing them frequently or for long periods.
