In some systems, tail docking is used as part of a broader management plan to help reduce tail biting during rearing. This gas tail docker is designed for quick tail docking in newborn piglets by cauterising as it cuts, which can help minimise bleeding when used correctly.
Tail docking is recommended shortly after birth (max 3–4 days). Tails are generally docked to a length of around 2–3 cm, depending on farm practice and advice.
The unit is supplied with one gas refill, and one refill is stated as docking up to 120 tails. All metal parts are made from rust-free steel to support durability and easier cleaning in shed conditions.
Always follow the instruction manual, use appropriate restraint, and work in line with local animal welfare requirements and veterinary guidance.
