The clear polycarbonate bucket allows the user to view the colour and quantity of the milk and is clearly marked as ‘Colostrum Only’ with a wide bright yellow base to avoid any confusion in the dairy shed.
Brix test and milk directly into the 32L bucket to avoid bacteria contamination. Colostrum milk taken from a Cows first milking can be checked with a brix refractometer and milk with readings of 22+ should be collected and set aside as ‘Gold’ colostrum for feeding to newborn calves.
The quality of colostrum can vary greatly from cow to cow, and it may be that calves dam can not produce colostrum with a brix reading of 22+ so safe collection, storage and feeding ensures that each calf gets allocated the best quality available and an adequate supply.
Bucket can be easily cleaned with hot soapy water between uses. Stainless steel lid also available for rough users.
Tip: Feed calves from youngest to oldest (sick calves last).
