Advantages of Polywire:
Polywire is generally lighter and more compact, making it
easier to handle and transport. This can be advantageous as you get more metres
on a geared reel.
Polywire is also generally less expensive per metre, which
can make it a more cost-effective option for larger fencing projects or for
those on a tighter budget.
Polywire is often more durable than polytape,
particularly in windy conditions where flapping is reduced or areas prone to
damage from animals or vegetation. Its smaller profile and twisted construction
can make it less susceptible to damage from abrasion or wear.
While both
polywire and polytape are effective conductors of electricity, polywire may
offer slightly better conductivity due to its smaller diameter and twisted
construction. This can be advantageous in areas with heavy vegetation or if
you're using a low-powered energizer.
Polywire is less visible than polytape,
making it less obtrusive in the landscape. This can be advantageous if you
prefer a less noticeable fence or if you're fencing in an area where aesthetics,
are a concern. However, in some cases polytape may be a better choice as it has
higher visibility helping to deter animals from testing the fence and making it
easier for farm staff to see and reducing the risk of accidental contact.
